Three die in separate road accidents over last two days

Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the past two days around the city.

Police said Sukumaran (29), an engineer from Mahalakshmi Nagar, Guduvanchery was crushed between a lorry and a mini van near Perungalathur on Tuesday. He was on his way to work at Kelambakkam. The mini van reportedly applied sudden brakes and Sukumaran rammed into it.

In another accident, Lokesh (27), an employee of the Accountant General’s Office in Teynampet, was near the Anna flyover when he was hit by an autorickshaw from behind and was thrown off his motorcycle. While Lokesh died on the spot, the auto driver fled the spot.

On Monday night, an unidentified man, who was sleeping near the entrance of Stanley Medical College Hospital, was run over by a car that was leaving the hospital.

Abducted teen girl found in gunny bag

A 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted on Tuesday morning from Cheyyur in Kancheepuram district on her way to school was found alive in a gunny bag near Madurantakam railway station.  Local residents rescued her from the spot and rushed her to Chengelpet Government Hospital. 

Fire in godown

A fire broke out in a shoe godown in West Tambaram around 6 pm affecting traffic in the area on Tuesday. Police suspect short circuit to be the cause of the blaze. Three fire tenders rushed to the godown on Ayyasamy Street, West Tambaram. Traffic on Tambaram Main Road was affected as a huge crowd gathered to watch the fire personnel in action.
