The chase is part of the experience...

And at that point I asked....." wouldn't it just be simpler to tag the lions..so you knew exactly where they were....." and pat came the reply in the coolest African accent...." for many," he said, " The chase is part of the experience.."

Back in the city, You see a new face across the room... quietly check her out. Make sure you look while, you're not being noticed... start a cell phone conversation....and start strolling like you're just you know...walking about.. when the truth is that your cell phone is on silent..you're not on a call...and all you're trying to do is walk closer to this new ....shall we say, subject of interest. Then still pretending to be on a call.....manage a very matter of factly smile.....and move on with your ...err....phone call..

All to just make the introduction easier...now that she's heard you talking...she knows what you sound like...and if you're also a permanent member of the 'over confident..and conceited society', you're dead sure that she's by now impressed by your style of talking, the accent....and can't wait to meet you...!

Then the usual, bla bla..." Do you come here to work out often"...the various attempts at finding common friends, points of conversation....interests... all of it happens quickly. The rituals of the mating game quickly take over...the animal instinct, the vibes, the attraction translates into dates, passionate nights...and the rest...as we say..is history..

Then the soda bottle effect ...the fizz begins to disappear, the champagne bubbles pop, you no longer feel that rush...and yes... your school teacher's comments about your attention span being that of a pumpkin come back to haunt you...

Your mind begins to stray, concepts of commitment still stay alien to that lil' mind...and yes... your entire being is irking for that same rush and excitement... unfortunately one realises...even true love...does not become a good enough substitue.

You scout more places...looking for the lions, thru the jungles, driving for hours, looking searching..... your heart rate increasing with every faint roar you hear thru the bushes..... because even though you know that when you eventually DO spot the lions...you'll spend no more than a few minutes around them......even though you know that you're not meant to be with the lions for long.....you still spend a good part of your day looking for them... why?! Because like Morico said...." For some, the chase is part of the experience".
