HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress leaders camping in Delhi want to bring pressure on the high command to announce a date for making an announcement on Telangana.“We want the party to announce a date. It cannot leave it open-ended,” Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, who is also chairman of T Cong Steering Committee, said.Speaking to ENS over phone from Delhi on Sunday, he said patience of T Cong was running out fast and that they cannot afford to wait long.“A quick decision is what all we want,” he said.Keshava Rao expressed satisfaction that the process gained momentum and that he was confident that Telangana would be a certainty before long.Congress leaders are planning to meet the prime minister on Monday. After speaking with him and giving reasonable time to the Congress, they will decide their course of action."I will not demand for resignations of MLAs and ministers,” he said but made it clear that they had an action plan ready. He said he would prefer to wait for the party to spell out its stand and what the road map for Telangana would be.But other members of the steering committee want to have some action from their side.Says a representative of legislators group in the steering committee Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy: “We will wait till the end of Dasara festival to implement our action plan.’’Sources indicated that in the first phase a few ministers would resign to their cabinet berths and membership of the assembly and in the second phase MPs would meet the Lok Sabha speaker and persuade her to accept their resignations. They will be followed by MLAs.“What we have to ensure is that in the eagerness to resign, we should not bring down our own government. If we do it, the issue of Telangana will come back to square one,” he said, adding that Congress appeared keen that agitations should turn violent so that it could impose President’s rule.“What is the meaning of governor holding midnight talks with DGP?” Reddy wondered.
