PARADIP: The district administration has sought the cooperation of pro-Posco leaders to resume construction and other ancillary works in Nuagaon and Gadakujang panchayats. It follows the recent visit of Posco India Chairman-cum-Managing Director Y W Yoon to the proposed site at Nuagaon along with the officials of the district administration and IDCO. The team had to skip Gadakujang due to security reasons. The incident-free visit has made the officials optimistic about resumption of Posco work. Since the State Government had claimed that 2,000 acres were sufficient for starting the construction work, Posco officials are only too keen to lower gears. The district administration too has been trying to convince the pro-Posco leaders, including elected representatives to thrust ahead with the Posco work. Collector Narayan Chandra Jena had a meeting with the working president of United Action Committee, Dhirendra Pallei and Sarpanch of Gadakujang Nakula Sahu, last Friday. The pro-Posco leaders, however, insisted on fulfilment of their six demands and suggested that the various issues plaguing the project could be resolved at the Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee meeting. The leaders also expressed displeasure over police registering false cases against Pallei and Sahu in Kujang police station. Additional District Magistrate, Paradip, Surjeet Das and Special Land Acquisition Officer Nrusingh Swain were present.
