Suchana Seth, the CEO of a Bengaluru-based AI start-up and one among the top “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics 2021”, grabbed the headlines on Tuesday morning after she was accused of killing her four-year-old son in North Goa’s Candolim. Seth was caught by the police while she was carrying the child’s body in a bag to Karnataka.
The CEO and founder of the Mindful AI Lab was detained at Aimangala Police Station in the Chitradurga district in Karnataka after the service apartment staff, where she stayed in Goa, informed the police about the possible crime. The incident was reported after the housekeeping staff while cleaning the apartment found bloodstain.
According to sources, Seth is originally from West Bengal. Her husband, with whom she allegedly shares an “estranged relationship”, however, is from Kerala.
Who Is Suchana Seth?
According to the Mindful AI Lab’s website, Suchana Seth is an AI ethics expert and data scientist with over 12 years of experience in mentoring data science teams, and scaling machine learning solutions at startups and industry research labs. Apart from this, she is also a Mozilla Fellow at Data & Society.
She was also a Fellow at the Berkman Klein Centre at Harvard University and a research fellow at the Raman Research Institute.
The CEO and founder of the Bengaluru-based start-up was named in the list of the “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021″. Sharing the tweet of Women in AI Ethics, Seth in 2020 wrote, “Honored to be part of this group of amazing group of women doing critically important work!”
Before founding The Mindful AI Lab, Seth was a Senior Data Scientist at Boomerang Commerce in Bengaluru. She used to design data-driven products for price optimisation and intelligence. She was also associated with Innovation Labs. Seth used to work as a senior analytics consultant at the company’s Data Sciences Group.
Seth also holds a Master’s degree in Physics specialising in Plasma Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Calcutta.
