CHENNAI: A phenomenal effort by 2,000 students from Vidhya Sagar Women's College in Chengalpattu, has culminated in the donation of `6.20 lakhs to the Cancer Institute(WIA) in Adyar. This amount was collected from the general public on behalf of Cancer Institute, Adyar. This large scale effort was made by the students to not only help the Institute out, but also to help raise awareness about cancer among people in their surrounding areas. The students Union Chairman and Secretary, Vidhya Sagar Women's College, handed over the cheque of `6.20 lakhs to Dr Shantha, Chairman - Cancer Institute, Adyar, along with Hastimal Surana, Chairman, Vikas Surana, Correspondent and N Sugal Chandji Jain. The chairman of Cancer Institute, Dr Shantha appreciated the efforts of social services rendered by the students and also thanked them profusely for the aid.
