CHENNAI: The operation of a notification dated June 8 last of the Centre, extending the service of Dr Surinder Singh as Drugs Controller General of India to March 31 next year was stayed by the High Court on Wednesday.The First Bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam granted the injuction while passing interim orders on a petition from K Ramalingasamy of Velacherry. He contended that Singh was appointed as the DCGI overlooking the seniority/qualifications of other candidates in 2008.
