Special teams to curb drunk driving

As part of a special drive, officials of the AP State Road Transport Corporation has set up vigilance teams to keep a check on drunken driving and stop the menace of fake bus passes across the state.  

The team will initiate random inspections on buses during day and night, according to RTC executive director M Ravinder. He said around 18 cases of drunken driving have been detected till today and action is being taken against them.

It also came to light that some of the pass holders are producing fake bonafide certificates and fake identity cards while applying for student bus passes with the help of middlemen. Four cases have been booked against 12 persons in fake bus passes case, he said. He said six vigilance teams are on task in greater hyderabad limits.
