HYDERABAD: Barring the cases involving defection and disqualification, Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar is expected to take a decision on resignations submitted by the Congress, TDP and TRS legislators from Telangana and Jagan loyalist legislators before the commencement of winter session of Assembly on December 1.
In all, 32 Telangana TDP MLAs submitted their resignations for the T cause on September 28. Another 26 MLAs loyal to Kadapa MP submitted their resignations on August 23 in protest against inclusion of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy's name in CBI's FIR in illegal assets case of Jagan. Later, two MLAs loyal to Jagan also quit for the Telangana cause. On July 23, four rebel TDP MLAs, including Nagam Janardhan Reddy, submitted their resignations immediately after the speaker's rejection of over 100 resignations of MLAs submitted for the T cause. Besides, 11 TRS legislators faxed their resignations to the speaker. One more TDP MLA Gampa Goverdhan also resigned from the post to join the TRS. In recent times, Congress MLAs Jupalli Krishna Rao, T Rajaiah and associate member Somarapu Satyanarayana submitted their resignations to join the TRS. It may be recalled here that the speaker accepted the resignations of rebel TDP MLAs Janardhan Reddy and N Prasanna Kumar Reddy. Four disqualification petitions filed by the Congress Legislature Party against rebel MLAs G Srikant Reddy, C Adinarayana Reddy, A Amarnath Reddy and K Surekha, rebel MLAs Y Balanagi Reddy (TDP) and B Shoba Nagi Reddy (PRP) are pending.

Except for summoning three or four MLAs for hearing their explanation, no action has been taken against them so far. According to Assembly sources, the speaker will definitely take some decision on resignation of MLAs before the commencement of the winter session. Manohar has not revealed his plan of action on the issue to any of his close aides. He had already summoned some MLAs, including Jupalli, Rajaiah and Somarapu who defected to another party and heard their views. The speaker, however, has reserved his judgement.
