CHENNAI: Commuters in the city were put to hardships, following a signal failure at Tambaram Railway Station, paralysing Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) services between Beach Station and Tambaram on Friday morning. The signal failure that lasted for an hour delayed the movement of trains during rush hour. “There were no trains at all for about 20 minutes from 9.25 am to 9.45 am for Tambaram at Park Railway Station,” said a regular commuter. “The number of passengers waiting at the station began to increase, and they had hard time in entering the much delayed train due to the crowd,” he added. According to a railway official, the signal failure was reported between 8.05 am and 9.05 am both on the up and down lines.
