A Mumbai court will on Monday hear the police's plea for extension of judicial custody for all three accused in the mysterious Sheena Bora murder case. Prime accused Indrani Mukerjea will be produced in the Bandra court via video conferencing.
Other accused in the case, Indrani's ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and former driver Shyam Rai are also likely to be produced through video conferencing as well.
TV tycoon Indrani, Sanjeev and her driver are in judicial custody for their role in Sheena's murder.
Almost a month since Indrani's arrest, the Maharashtra government had on September 19 decided to transfer the murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing the need for a fair probe. The government also stated that there are aspects to the case which may require probing of financial links.
The decision came after confusion over who is heading the probe after the transfer of Rakesh Maria as Mumbai Police Commissioner. According to the government, Maria's transfer had nothing to do with the case.
