CHENNAI: DVAC sleuths raided the residences and offices of suspected middlemen across the State, in a case against the Chairman and members of the TNPSC for alleged corruption in the recruitment process. The house of Ganesan, a junior engineer in Port Trust at Palavanthangal was raided. Police sources also said the house of Srinivasan at Choolaimedu, who was allegedly in charge of a training centre run by a TNPSC member, the house of TNPSC section officer Jayaraj at Choolaimedu, the residence of retired IPS officer Mani at Velachery, that of TN Open University professor Vijayan at Anna Nagar and the house of Ravichandran at Velachery were also raided.Similar raids were conducted in Madurai, Salem, Sivagangai, Dindigul, Erode, Kancheepuram, Namakkal,Theni, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Coimbatore and Tiruchy.Police sources said documents, bank details, property papers, laptops, and hard disks were seized and that the next move would be to conduct searches in the residences of those who passed the exams allegedly indulging in malpractice.Police sources said the raids were based on materials seized during previous raids. “They might be relatives and friends of those directly or indirectly linked to the commission,” said a police officer. The earlier raids were conducted on the premises of the TNPSC chairman and members on October 14, followed by raids on the premises of 14 TNPSC staff on November 18. The raids were part of investigations into alleged graft in the recruitment, police said.
