KOCHI: The Medical Trust Hospital will organise a seminar —JAAGRATHA 2011: Roads become killing fields ; proactive approach to the prevention and management of trauma — on Saturday at Centre Hotel, Panampilly Nagar.The morning session that is for the public will be inaugurated by Excise Minister K Babu at 10.30 am. Chief Justice Chelameswar will deliver the keynote address. City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar and Medical Trust Hospital managing director P V Antony will also be present.The seminar will be moderated by journalist K M Roy. Justice A R Lakshmanan, chief of panel of arbitrators, Indian Courts of Arbitration for Sports, will present the theme ‘Roads Become Killing Fields-Shouldn’t we Act?’ Justice Benjamin Koshy, chairman Human Rights, will share his expertise in ‘Tortious Liability in Road accidents: Role of the Government.”The scientific session for doctors in the evening will be inaugurated by Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju. Mayor Tony Chammany will preside over the function.The session to be chaired by professor and Head of Orthopaedics, AIIMS, New Delhi, P P Kotwal, will have speakers presenting papers pertaining to management of polytrauma. The panel includes Dr Mukund Thatte, consultant plastic surgeon, Bombay Hospital, Dr R R Ravi, HoD, Neurosurgery, and Dr V M Khaleel, HoD Department of Orthopaedics, Medical Trust Hospital.
