THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Santhigram Counselling Guidance Centre, in association with Venganoor and Poovar Grama Panchayat Jagratha Samithis, Bharath Vikas Parishad, Child Empowerment Trust and Santhigram Women’s Library, will conduct a seminar on ‘Liquor-free society; problems and possibilities’ in connection with Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2, at Chappath, near Vizhinjam. The seminar is being organised with the objective of giving shape to a comprehensive action plan to achieve liquor-free community in four grama panchayats - Athiyannoor, Parassala, Poovar and Venganoor. District Panchayat vice-president Rufus Daniel will inaugurate the programme in which V Sivakumar, president, Kottukal grama panchayat, will preside over. Adv Anto Marcilin, Venganoor grama panchayat president Mangalathukonam Raju, District Panchayat member V Rajendran and Bharat Vikas Parishad Chapter president Dr C G Radhakrishnan Namboothiri are among the other speakers. The conveners of Jagratha Samithies of Athiyannoor and Parassala will present an outline of the proposed action plan and their activities.
