HYDERABAD: Though the hearing on common fee structure for seats in state professional colleges is pending with the Supreme Court, the Consortium of Professional Colleges Associations’ of Andhra Pradesh is planning to bring pressure on the state government for a common fee structure for all seats by  scrapping management quota seats. In the general body meeting held here on Sunday, the Consortium has decided to demand the state government for fixing a common fee structure to all the seats, speedy completion of Eamcet-2012 counselling and depositing 25 per cent funds under fee reimbursement scheme at the time of admissions.Later speaking to Express, Consortium secretary G Panduranga Reddy said they were demanding scrapping of management quota seats as many private colleges in the state were unable to fill seats under this quota. The Admission and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) has fixed the tuition fee for B-Tech convener quota seats (70 per cent) at  Rs 31,000 while that of management quota (30 per cent) at Rs 95,000.The consortium felt that if the state government fixes a common fee structure for all the seats, the fee would go up and thereby the colleges can provide better infrastructure, Panduranga Reddy said.About 1.5 lakh B-Tech seats remained vacant last year out of the 3.1 lakh available. Most of the vacant seats were management quota seats only. As professional colleges associations had a filed a batch of petitions in the HC seeking scrapping of management quota seats, the HC in its verdict on Oct 30, 2011 asked the state to set up common fee structure by scrapping existing one.The state moved the apex court and got a stay on the issue in  January this year.
