New Delhi: Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza has climbed up the WTA charts to a career-high 30th place in the latest WTA rankings list released on Monday.
Sania, 20, bettered her previous high of No. 31 achieved last week.
Since her first round loss at the Wimbledon and a disappointing grass court season, Sania bounced back from her slumber at the hardcourt season.
Sania lost in the quarter-finals of the San Diego Classic last week to World No. 2 and eventual champion Maria Sharapova.
Sania has so far won 172 career singles matches and lost 77.
The Hyderabadi has also done exceedingly well in the doubles circuit, pairing up with Israel's Shahar Peer.
Sania is the only Indian woman to reach the third round of a Grand Slam tournament. She achieved that feat in the 2005 Australian Open, but lost to eventual champion Serena Williams in Melbourne.
The same year Sania also reached the US Open fourth round where she was beaten by the top seed Sharapova.
