PATHANAMTHITTA: The Motor Vehicles Department would launch its safe zone project for the Sabarimala pilgrims during the ensuing festival season. The project will be inaugurated by Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar at Elavunkal Junction on the Mannarakulanji-Panapa Road at 9 am on Wednesday. The safe zone website was unveiled by District Collector P Venugopal at the Collectorate on Monday.Two patrolling batches will be deployed on the Mannarakulanji-Pampa route and a team will be deployed on the Erumely-Elavunkal road for 24 hours. An office set up at Elavunkal Junction would monitor the safe zone project functioning. The safe zone project operation would be led by Pathanamthitta RTO N K Ravindranath.
