New Delhi: After weeks of speculation as to where he might move, Roy Keane has finally made a decision and is very happy about it.
The former Manchester United captain has signed a contract with Glasgow Celtic, a club that he has supported since he was a boy.
The 34-year-old Irishman signed an 18-month deal and will be at the club until June of 2007.
Keane, who ended his 12-year Manchester United career in November, had interested several Premiership clubs and also Spanish giants Real Madrid.
"I think it's a great move for me. I think its important that I took my time over the last three or four weeks, but once everything was done, the medical, you know, it's a good deal for me," said the Celtic midfielder.
"Its been a strange few weeks, having left United, but this is a great move for me and I'm looking forward to the challenge," he added.
Keane will get ?40,000 ($70,940) a week at Celtic, which is considerably less than the approximately ?90,000 a week he earned at United.
The midfielder will wear the number 16 shirt at Celtic, just as he did at Manchester United, and the fans will be hoping that he has the same effect on their club as he did on the English giants.
Celtic are currently three points ahead of Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premier League table.
