KOCHI: The first lawyers’ enrolment ceremony of 2012, held at the Kerala High Court Auditorium on Sunday had many highlights. One of the persons to be enrolled among the 400 law students was Elizabeth Antony, wife of Defence Minister A K Antony. Her enthusiasm led her to take a degree in law even while she is employed otherwise.Elizabeth said she would assist the underprivileged women in getting the legal aid. The service will be provided through the legal services wing of her NGO. While it is a philanthropic service for Elizabeth it was the ambition of his father that led Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty to the legal service. “It is an extremely happy moment in my life. It was my father’s wish to make me a lawyer,” said Pookutty. Law is a noble profession. In a country like ours, the court is the only solace for the poor, he said. Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan was the chief guest at the function. Advocate General K P Dandapani, chairman of the Bar Council C Sreedharan Nair, enrolment committee chairman K N Anil Kumar, committee members Ajithan Nampoothiri and C T Sabu were present.
