Despite the leading title of the film the audience had little or no warning of what was to come. The film is a complete let down in spite of having brilliant actors on board. It's a good thing that the movie is not available in most theatres. With exactly four people in the hall, the manager agreed to screen the film, but I regret every minute of it.
The film enacts the scenario of the 26/11, when terrorists took over a boat to encroach Mumbai from the seas. The leader of the terrorist group, Azaan Khan (Atul Kulkarni) leads his men to Mumbai on a boat driven by Ramsharan (Karan Razdan). Halfway to the destination, Ramsharan picks up the courage to stop them but gets killed in the process. On reaching the shores, Azaan is shot down. But the attack continues as planned.
In a far away village, Ramsharan's family is shattered on hearing about his death. His parents played by Ila Arun and Satish Kaushik and wife (Rituparna Sengupta) are grief-stricken. But Muskaan (Baby Jannat) who does not understand the concept of death continues to search for her father. During her search she gets possessed by a spirit who tries to converse with the family. Peer Jammatuddin Shah Baba (Anupam Kher) is then called to help Muskaan. The Baba figures out the identity of the ghost and the warning delivered by it.
Why was this film even made in the first place and did these actors not read the script before agreeing to act in it? The film starts with terrorist attacks and mid-way becomes a horror film. But Aagaah- the Warning does not scare you at all. More than half the film is over and one is still waiting to experience a high point in the script which never comes. If the movie is ever watched by an actual terrorist, he would be offended. The script shows lack of research and sometimes even common sense. Director Karan Razdan may have had a noble thought while making this movie but it was far from visible on the screen. A scene in the film where Rituparna physically fights with 'smoke like ghost' only makes you wonder what the director really had in mind.
Rituparna Sengupta looked good in her backless cholis but did not manage to lift the character. Satish Kaushik was his usual self, Ila Arun was over the top and her constant Gujarati rambling did nothing to help the film. Baby Jannat seemed out of place but made a decent effort. Anupam Kher gave an average performance. Atul Kulkarni gave a decent performance. Other actors like, Zakir Hussein and Anang Desai seem truly wasted in the film.
On the whole, the film was an absolute disaster. I'd warn you against watching this film.
