KADAPA: Rayalaseema will be plunged into utter backwardness to become another Somalia If the state gets divided, said Ch Chandrasekhara Reddy, Samaikyandhra JAC district convener. Addressing to the media here on Sunday, Reddy, who is also the president of Rayalaseema Karmika Karshaka Samithi, said that with the bifurcation of the state, Rayalaseema which is already underdeveloped would be dragged further into backwardness. No development schemes will be completed especially the irrigation projects taken up in the region if the state is birfurcated. All the water projects including Galeru Nagari, Handri Neeva, Telugu Ganga were designed based on the surplus waters of Krishna river which will not be feasible with the division of the state, he said.“We are strongly opposing the state bifurcation before the completion of these projects and will not relent even if Hyderabad is made the capital of the two regions,” Reddy said. Rayalaseema people want the state to be united as the region can be developed only in the united Andhra Pradesh, he said. Chandrasekhar said that a state can not be divided with such a regional imbalance. “Bifurcation should only be considered when the problems of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra are solved,’’ he added. The Smaikyandhra leader urged the people representatives from the region to bring these issues to the notice to the Congress High Command.
