Underworld don Ravi Pujari has allegedly threatened former Karnataka minister and Congress leader HM Revanna over telephone and demanded Rs 10 crore as ransom for the successful release of his son Anoop's debut movie - Lakshmana.
"He identified himself as Ravi Pujari and said that he is calling from Australia. He asked me to pay Rs 10 crore for my son’s (Anoop) debut movie Lakshmana. He was speaking in Hindi and threatened to shoot my son if I refuse to give him the money,' Revanna said.
He added, "I went to Belagavi as a party observer for the elections to the posts of zilla panchayat president and vice president. I was waiting at the airport when the first call was made. I told him that I am a social worker and don't have such money. I disconnected the phone. After 20 minutes, he again called me up threatened to kill my son and warned me to arrange the money."
I met the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and lodged a complaint. Preliminary inquiry revealed that it was Ravi Pujari who called me up. The call details were analyzed and his voice sample matched with Pujari, Revanna claimed.
Police have increased security at Revanna's house after the alleged threat call.
