CUTTACK: As the first vice-chancellor and poet Devdas Chhotray made way for his successor Dr B C Tripathy, Ravenshaw University has announced launch of a grand annual poetry recitation ‘Kabi Katha’ (the poet and his poetry) in the former’s honour. The initiative aims to bring out the literary talents in the students of the university and provide them with a platform to reach out to a larger audience. The programme would start on December 10. Students, indulging in poetry writing, would have to recite three poems of their own. The poems could be in Oriya or English or Hindi. According to chairman, Ravenshaw Radio, Netaji Abhinandan, the recitations would be recorded for transmission in the Literati programme on Ravenshaw Radio 90.4 MHz. The best 25 recitations would also be made into audio CDs and released by the first campus radio of the State. Besides, poems, selected by a distinguished jury, would be compiled in a book and released for the public. The annual event will be a great encouragement for students who have a flair for creative writing, Abhinandan said.
