The representatives of the Rajasthani community in the state took over their posts in the Rajasthani Association of Tamil Nadu (RAJAT) on Sunday.
N Gautam Chand Bohra succeeded Vijay Bafna as the president for the next year. Vice presidents Subhash Chandranka, R S Falore and Kanthilal B Shah, secretary Mahendra Kumar, joint secretaries Ashok Mundra and Ashok Rajpurohit and treasurer Inder Raj Bhansal were formally inducted to their posts.
RAJAT was inaugurated in 1967 by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, C N Annadurai, and this is the 22nd team of office bearers. Speaking to City Express, the president of RAJAT, Gautam Chand Bohra, said that this year the focus will be on empowering young adults and newly weds. “Youngsters are gradually forgetting all our cultural values. In order to reinstil the values, we will be conducting several workshops for them,” he says.
To conduct these workshops, a group of qualified professionals have planned a syllabus, he adds. “We will conduct three-day workshops simultaneously for both boys and girls so that they can open up freely. There will also be workshops for couples. The couples’ workshop will be held on October 13 and 14 at DG Vaishnav College,” added Gautam.
Healthcare and services has always been a big part of RAJAT. To follow up on this, the association has inked a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with several public and private hospitals to ensure that the best care is given to members of the association. “We also have an emergency team whom we contact in time of medical need. They will have all our basic information and will assist us,” says Gautam.
