The incident comes in the backdrop of multiple terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few days. Four Army personnel had died while three others were injured in a terrorist attack on two military vehicles in the Rajouri sector on December 21.
A retired senior police officer Mohammed Shafi Mir, a resident of Gantamulla Bala village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, was shot dead by terrorists while he was offering prayers inside a mosque on December 24.
On December 23, security forces guarding the International Border (IB) thwarted an infiltration attempt in Jammu killing at least one terrorist. The encounter took place when a group of four heavily armed terrorists was noticed attempting to sneak across the IB in the Khour sector of Akhnoor in the early hours of Saturday.
As many as 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
