SRIKAKULAM: Protesters against Kovvada Nuclear Park on Wednesday demanded that Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, which proposed the 9,000 MW of Nuclear Power Park in the district should reveal the details of all surveys done earlier including the one by the AP State Remote Sensing Agency early this year that identified four reactors to be placed at the Park.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday in Ranasthalam in the wake of the government releasing GO 270 on Tuesday to appoint a team led by special deputy collector to acquire 775 acres of land in the first phase for KNP on December 27, protesters Polisu, Jaggulu and some TDP leaders lamented that the north Andhra congress leaders sent a wrong message indicating that people are welcoming the Park which had resulted in government going ahead with it."Fisher folk and land lords have split into two groups with the latter jeopardising the lives of the former. The park poses a threat to both the livelihood and health of fishermen," an activist told newsmen. The marine survey, done by National Institute of Oceanography, Goa last year should also be revealed so as to know the affect of nuclear park on marine species, he added.
