Posco work to resume on arrival of police force

PARADIP: The 20 platoons of police force that were diverted to Puri for the Car Festival, would be redeployed in Jagatsinghpur in two days to expedite work for the proposed Posco project.Posco project work in Nuagaon and Gadakujang panchayats has been stalled since Monday due to protests by pro and anti-industry outfits.The pro-Posco activists under the aegis of United Action Committee (UAC) have been stalling the Posco project and ancillary works seeking fulfilment of their six demands.Sources said prior to the Car Festival, 20 platoons of police force were diverted to Puri and as curtains have come down on the festival, these platoons will be brought back to the Posco project area.ADM Saroj Kant Chaudhary said work on the project had been hit in the last six days due to inadequate police force and the administration is expected to resume the ancillary work on Friday.
