New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an urgent meeting with senior ministers late on Sunday night to review demonetisation impact and to overcome cash crisis within 50 days as promised by him during a meet in Goa.
Modi in an emotional speech - where he broke down at one point - asked Indians to bear with the currency crunch for 50 days. “I am ready to face any punishment, if I failed,” he added.
The meeting was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, I&B Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Power, Coal and Mines Minister Piyush Goyal and top officials of the Finance ministry.

The high level meeting - held at PM's residence - came amid continuing chaos and growing public anger across the country over limited cash availability following the surprise demonetisation of two higher value currency notes by Modi.

Meanwhile, five days after demonetisation people are still having harrowing time to get some cash as most of the banks and ATMs are closed due to public holiday.
