VISAKHAPATNAM: The Energy Conservation Committee (ECC) submitted its report to the state government here on Friday. It aims to save 15,105 Million Units of power per annum.ECC chairman and APEPDCL managing director Ahmed Nadeem handed over the report to principal energy secretary Dinesh Kumar. APTransco managing director Ajay Jain, joint MD K Ranganatham, ECC member-convener, and member secretary A Chandra Sekhara Reddy were also present on the occasion.The ECC has made sector-wise recommendations for energy conservation. Based on the report, the government will implement measures to conserve power in domestic, industry and agriculture sectors. Government offices and local bodies will also be asked to vigorously implement energy conservation measures.Appreciating the efforts of the ECC in bringing out a comprehensive report on energy conservation, Dinesh Kumar said the state government would launch a power saving campaign involving all the stakeholders to achieve the target.Energy conservation helps meet the demand during the peak hours to some extent, he said.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who is determined to achieve self-sufficiency in power generation, is keen on implementing energy conservation methods in the state in a big way.He urged all the power utilities to fully gear up to achieve the energy efficiency targets recommended by the ECC for short term and long term.
