New Delhi: The government has released pictures of the MV Iceberg sailors, who were held hostage for 32 months by Somali pirates, after the cargo ship was rescued last week. The pictures show six sailors from India along with sailors from other countries including Pakistan.
Official sources have said the Indian sailors may return to India very soon. They are being brought to back to the country via Dubai, and will land in Mumbai. MV Iceberg, which is registered in Panama, had been seized by pirates back in March 2010.
At least six Indian sailors had been on board at the time of the hijack. They are the longest held hostages in Somalia. CNN-IBN had brought the plight of these men through the 'Nobody's Indian' campaign in 2011.
Taken captive in March 2010, the cargo ship MV Iceberg-I's owner had stopped negotiations with the pirates. He had also not paid a single penny to the families of the sailors.
