HYDERABAD: The second Sainik school which is going to be set up in Kaligiri at Chittoor district should be set up in Telangana districts by the central government, demanded member of All India Sainik School Parent’s Forum (AISSPF), Korukonda, C H Anantha Ramulu.Students who have completed their primary and plus two education from Korukonda Sainik School in Vizianagaram district are treated as non-locals while they pursue higher education at Osmania University, University of Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University etc, he said at a press conference here on Monday. He demanded that National Defence Academy (NDA) should give special relaxations and exceptions for Sainik school students. Sainik schools which is currently being run under Society of Saniki Schools should run under the defence ministry.Ramulu pointed out that the central government is not implementing the transfer system for teaching staff though there are 24 Sainik schools across the country. If teaching staff are not transferred, students will not get exposed to new methods of education which will lead to a stereotyped education system. Sainik school syllabus should be changed according to the contemporary education system as the old syllabus and teaching techniques do not enable the pass-outs to get into higher and professional courses, he said. Courses included in army education should be provided. “The school management has to amend its rules of repaying scholarship money when the student wants to leave the school during the middle of an academic year,” Ramulu demanded. Every year, about 1200 students apply for admission to class six and class 11, but only 300 students are given admission. It is better to admit more number of students, he said.
