New Delhi: Eight extremely lucky pandas are on their way to be showcased at the Beijing Olympics.
They are lucky because they survived the quake, which wreaked havoc in Sichuan province.
The pandas lived there at the Wolong Panda Reserve Centre. They will be on display at a Beijing zoo until November and are expected to draw more than six million tourists.
Some of the pandas are still acting nervous, eating and sleeping less since the earthquake, so their keepers will be accompanying them and helping them adjust to their new home in Beijing.
The Wolong centre suffered extensive damage because it is just 30 km from the epicentre of the massive earthquake, which is estimated to have killed more than 55,000 people.
