Patna: A paedophile, who allegedly sodomised more than 100 children and subsequently killed a few of them, has been arrested by Bihar police.
Arjun Sah, a resident of Sakra Bazar on Indo-Nepal border of Bihar's East Champaran district, was lodged in Sitamarhi Jail after his arrest on charges of sodomy.
"During interrogation, Arjun had confessed that he indulged in trafficking of children for sexual abuse during the past nine years and hundreds of teen aged boys and minors fell victim to his trap over the said period," police said and added that the accused had also realised heavy ransom from the parents of some of the victims.
Bihar police arrested Arjun on Wednesday when he was taking two teen aged boys in a truck from Motihari to Dhaka. The victims - Rahul and and Guddu - hailed from Riga block in Sitamarhi and Bettiah respectively.
District police superintendent of Sitamrhi MR Naik said on Saturday that Rahul, a student of Riga-based public school, was kidnapped on January 23 and a missing diary was lodged by his father.
Sitamarhi police sought the help of East Champaran police in their hunt for Arjun who was ultimately arrested and two children, including Rahul, were rescued in the process.
Meanwhile, East Champaran Superintendent of police SK Jha said Arjun was also responsible for over 27 cases of kidnappings in Vaishali, Gopalganj, East and West Champaran, UP and Nepal and informed that he had also constituted a special team to investigate the disappearance of children who might have been killed by the offender.
When contacted, ADG (Headquarters) Anil Sinha said Arjun was also earlier nabbed on charges of sodomy and later released.
He, however, refused to compare this case with the Nithari incident in Uttar Pradesh as not a single case of murder of kidnapped boys was pending against him.
