CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on the Association of Recognised Private Nursing Schools and Colleges for filing a writ petition due to business rivalry. A division bench, which imposed the cost on January 31 last, directed the association to pay the amount directly to the School of Health Services, run by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. The association’s writ petition sought to restrain the TN government from allowing the IGNOU to conduct the Post Basic BSc Nursing Degree course in its study centres in Tamil Nadu for the purpose of conferring the degree.
