KOCHI: The row between the Kolenchery Medical College Hospital management and the nurses continued into the tenth day on Monday with the talks failing to yield any result. The All India Nurses Welfare Association(AINWA) announced that they will persist with the strike as there was no positive move from the manangement regarding their demand for a pay hike.“The management has agreed to pay around Rs 8000-8500 to the newly recruited nurses. However, their decision on the increment is not acceptable. As per their pay-scale, nurses with up to two years of experience will be eligible for a salary of around Rs 9000, whereas, those with 2-5 years of experience will get only around Rs 10,000. So, the increment rate will not be even 2 per cent”, said representatives of the AINWA.
