Norah Jones set for screen debut
Norah Jones will make her film debut in Hong Kong-based director Wong Kar-wai's first English-language film.

Hong Kong: US jazz-pop singer Norah Jones will make her screen debut in an English-language film by acclaimed Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai, a press report said on Monday.

The Grammy-winner will star in a film about Hurricane Katrina, Hong Kong's Oriental Daily News said. As usual, Wong will shoot the picture without a script.

The paper also said another Wong effort, The Lady from Shanghai, originally set for last year and to be led by Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, will be postponed until 2007 as he is still searching a suitable male lead.

Wong won best director at the Cannes film festival in 1997 for Happy Together, his tale of a strained relationship between two Chinese gay lovers living in Buenos Aires.

But it was 2000's In The Mood For Love that earned him wider international plaudits, getting a nomination for the top prize at Cannes, the Palme d'Or, and earning some 2.7 million dollars at the US box office.
