BANGALORE: With the publication of the draft electoral list of the membership of over 6.20 lakh of the State Youth Congress, the process to elect the new president Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (KPYCC) would kickstart from Monday for which as many as half a dozen aspirants vying for the coveted party post.
According to party sources the draft list of the eligible members, which has been published would be taken up for scrutiny from tomorrow.Elections will be conducted for 46,273 booths in 30 districts after publishing the final list of the electorate by Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME), an NGO headed by former Chief Election Commissioner, J M Lyngdoh.

The NGO would initiate the process from Monday and would take another ten days to publish the final voters' list, which would set the process of the election.

The official also informed that Priyanka Kharge, the son of the Union Labour Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge is one of the serious contenders for the party post among others, which included Rizwan Arshad from Mysore and a close relative of the former Union Railway minister C K Jaffer Sharief.

Interestingly highest number of members, who were enlisted during the membership drive concluded recently, was recorded in the HyderagadKarnataka region including Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary where the party had lost the assembly election.

"There are ten posts to be filled in the state committee of the KPYCC," he said.
