CHENNAI: Central Government recently conducted an election for a Member-Siddha representing Tamil Nadu to the Central Council of Indian Medicine recently. Dr B Muthukumar MD(s), spokesperson of the Indian Siddha Medical Graduates Association (ISMGA), was elected as the new CCIM member for Siddha. Dr G Sivaraman, Dr Murugesan, Dr Mathivanan, Dr Arumugam and Dr Robertsing were the other contestants in that election. The tenure of a CCIM member is 5 years.The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the statutory body like MCI, constituted under the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970, and has been framing and implementing various regulations including the Curricula and Syllabi in Indian systems of medicine like Siddha, Ayurveda and Unani at UG and PG level.
