Mother attempts suicide with 2 daughters

HYDERABAD: A woman forced her two children to consume poison and later attempted to end her life too at Jubilee Hills on Friday, reportedly depressed over the death of her husband. A one-and-half-year-old girl died while the woman and her elder daughter are undergoing treatment.According to police, Anitha (30) is a resident of Karmika Nagar in Yousufguda.She was married to Nagesh, a private employee and they have two daughters, five-year- old Dikshita and 18-month-old Madhumitha.Nagesh had died of a heart attack two-and-half months back. “Since the death of her husband, Anitha was in a depressed state. She was worried of bringing up her two daughters,” Jubilee Hills police sub-inspector DV Narayana Reddy said.One daughter is physically challenged and both of them were also suffering from speech related problems.On Friday morning, Anitha made her two children consume poison and later she also took poison. Hearing the cries of the children, neighbours rushed into the house and shifted them to the NIMS.Madhumitha died in the hospital while Dikshita was shifted to Niloufer hospital for treatment.
