HYDERABAD: Light to moderate rains occurred in many places in North Andhra and Telangana regions on Thursday under the influence of a depression that had centralised between Madhya Pradesh and South Tamil Nadu coast. Predicting more rains in near future under its influence, the Meteorological department officials said the South West monsoon would be active in a week. Moderate rains occurred in many places of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram and few places in Telangana region on Thursday. Kondagal in Mahabubnagar district and Medchal in Ranga Reddy reported 2 cm rainfall each while there was trace rainfall in Visakhapatnam, Hakimpet and many places in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts.The MeT officials said that light to moderate rains would continue to occur in North Andhra and Telangana in the next 36 hours. But dry winds coming from the north-west direction has reduced the humidity level and has had a bad impact over the current monsoon activity, MeT officials added.
