BANGALORE: It is the beginning of the festive season and what better way to start the long weekend than a getaway.According to the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of I n d i a (ASSOCHAM), as many as 45 per cent of the working population in Bangalore have applied for four to five days off in the third week of August, as majority of them have planned for a 8-10 day long itinerary.The forum, that interacted with the human resources and administration departments in 400 corporate offices in five cities at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune, have stated that the city are foremost in setting their vacation itinerary as casual leave letters have been free flowing in companies.The forum’s survey states that tour operators in the city have sold monsoon tour packages for Coorg.They further state that travel operators state that they have received maximum bookings for traditional picturesque destinations such as Jaipur, Landsdowne (Uttarakhand), Manali, Shimla, Mussorrie, Nainital, Goa and Mount Abu.“Long weekends are very r a r e these days and corporate employees see this is as a perfect getaway time owing to several public holidays this month,” said D S Rawat, secretary general of ASSOCHAM.According to the survey, various companies have e n a b l e d w o r k from home facility.
