New Delhi: 2010 Commonwealth Games broze medalist Monika Devi was the best-placed Indian so far at the ongoing Senior Asian Weightlifting Championships with a sixth-placed finish, but an Olympic quota remains elusive for the country.
A 15-member Indian team, including seven women, are competing in the Championships in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
Competing in the women's 69kg category, Monika lifted 98kg in Snatch and 117kg in Clean and Jerk for a total of 215kg, which could fetch her only a sixth-place finish.
Sathish Kumar (77kg) was next best Indian in the competition as he managed an eighth position in his category by lifted a total of 304kg. He lifted 139kg in Snatch and 165kg in Clean and Jerk.
