CHENNAI: DMK president M Karunanidhi on Monday lashed out at chief minister Jayalalithaa on the power shortage in the State.In a statement, Karunanidhi referred to the Chief Minister’s explanation on Sunday on the power crisis in the State.Recalling that Jayalalithaa had challenged that she would end the power crisis in 3 months before assuming power, he wondered why she was now saying that the issue would be resolved by 2012. Quoting extensively from the statements of Jayalalithaa (when she was the opposition leader) hitting hard at the DMK on the power front, he said: “She never realised that she would have to face a similar situation.” Citing other issues including strike by power loom workers in Tirupur and the law and order situation in Paramakudi, he accused the government of “not being bothered at all” about resolving such issues.
