Arundhati Pantawane qualified for the main draw but RMV Gurusai Dutt and Ajay Jayaram crashed out.

New Delhi: Saina Nehwal may be India's most renowned badminton player but she is not the only Indian in action at the Singapore Open Super Series tournament.

Young shuttler Arundhati Pantawane qualified for the main draw of the women's singles event on Tuesday after two gruelling encounters. She will play in the main draw of a Super Series event for the first time when she takes on Chinese Taipei's Tzu Ying Tai on Wednesday.

However, things did not go according to plan for RMV Gurusai Dutt and Ajay Jayaram who were beaten in the men's singles qualification round.

Olympics Games bronze medallist Parupalli Kashyap, faces a tough first round clash against eighth seed Korea's Park Sung Hwan. Should he get through that one, reigning world champion Chen Jin of China may be next in line for him in the second round.
