KOCHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will take necessary steps to complete the metro-related works in a time-bound manner, DMRC chief E Sreedharan said here on Saturday. He was talking to reporters after evaluating the progress of the reconstruction work of North Rail Overbridge (RoB) and the construction of the new RoB near the the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) garage. He also gave instructions to the officials to make sure that the narrow roads in Kochi will not become a hurdle in implementing the projects within the stipulated time.“Compared to other Metros like Delhi and Chennai, the roads in Kochi are narrow and the moisture content in the soil is high. Hence, piling works will be more time-consuming”.  “But a joint effort by all the departments concerned will help in overcoming these small hurdles,” Sreedharan said. Sreedharan also instructed the officials to begin the reconstruction work of the first motor bay from Sunday onwards. He also asked DMRC project director P Sriram to co-ordinate with the Railways to make sure that the reconstruction work will not face any issues. Sreedharan  also inspected the storage house of the DMRC at Manppattipparambu.  Expressing his satisfaction over the progress of the RoB near the KSRTC, Sreedharan said the construction of the bridge would be completed within 15 months.  Kochi Metro Rail Limited managing director Tom Jose, Metro Corporation joint general manager K J Joseph and deputy chief engineers V R Sudhi and G Radhakrishnan Nair also accompanied him.
