THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Toeing the lines of her party’s decision to boycott functions attended by UDF Minister K B Ganeshkumar, Mayor K Chandrika who is also the Organising Committee chairperson of the 16th IFFK, kept away from the inaugural function of the event held at Nishagandhi here on Friday evening. The CPM leader had an active companion in V Sivankutty MLA, who also stayed away from the function. The CPM had decided to boycott the events which has the presence of Ganeshkumar following the latter’s remarks against Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan in the controversial speech made at Pathanapuram. Mayor Chandrika said that she and her Corporation team had lent all support to organising the festival and would continue to do so till it ends. Her absence was her adherence to the party’s command, she told Express.
