VISAKHAPATNAM: CPI Maoists of Galikonda area committee allegedly killed two tribals suspecting them to be police informers at GK Veedhi mandal in the district on Sunday.
Sources said tribals reportedly killed tribals by slitting their throats and fled from the scene on Sunday. The deceased were identified as S Bojjibabu (30), Talyari of Marriwada Gram Panchayat of Koyyuru mandal and D Sivaprakash Koti (26) a daily wage worker at Koyyuru. Sources said Bojjibabu was a former Maoist supporter while Sivaprakash Koti was an operator of a film projector at Koyyuru Mandal in the past. Sources said rebels targeted the duo as the latter were involved in antipeople movements in the region. However, police are yet to confirm the same.

In September, Maoists had gunned down a forest tanger of Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (APFDC) M Madhava Rao at Lankapakalu area of GK Veedhi mandal. Maoists had warned the ranger against venturing into the coffee estate as they were planning to distribute coffee plantations to the tribals.
