New Delhi: A low intensity blast took place outside the office of the Assam Rifles Public Relations Officer (PRO) on Tuesday morning in Imphal, Manipur. No casualties were reported.
Sources say that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur is suspected to be behind the blast.
It was not yet exactly clear how the bomb went off at the heavy-security complex adjoining Manipur Raj Bhavan and prestigious Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
Eyewitnesses said that the sound of the explosion could be heard from a distance of three kilometers.
Security and Army personnel have cordoned off the complex.
A team of journalists who wanted to make enquiries was not allowed to enter the complex saying they would be permitted later.
Official sources refused to divulge any information when asked whether the bomb was hurled at the complex by insurgents or was it an accidental explosion of a grenade or bomb kept inside the army complex.
