New Delhi: An unidentified man allegedly jumped in front of a metro train at the INA station in south Delhi on Monday. The incident took place around 6.30 pm and the man, who is apparently in his 30s, was standing at the platform waiting for the train towards HUDA City Centre. As the train approached the platform, he jumped on the tracks, said a police official.
The man was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where his condition is reported to be critical. His right arm and right leg was crushed by the train, said the official, adding that the police found no suicide note at the spot. The police are presently checking his mobile phone and documents obtained from his pocket.
"We are trying to ascertain his identity as soon as possible so that his relatives or friends can be informed about the incident," said DCP (Metro) Jitender Mani. The incident caused brief disruption in services on the Yellow Line of Delhi Metro, said a DMRC official.
