Maharashtra: Man held for raping daughter-in-law
Police said a 47-year-old man was held along with his wife for raping his daughter-in-law in Maharashtra.

Thane: A 47-year-old man was held on Monday along with his wife for raping his daughter-in-law in Kalyan town of Thane district, in Maharashtra, police said.

Arun Jadhav sexually assaulted the 21-year-old victim at their residence on two occasions on August 15 and September 24 last when her husband was away, while his wife Kusum Jadhav (45) abetted the crime, police sub-inspector Rajesh Waghmare said.

The accused duo was held from Chikanagar locality on Sunday after the victim lodged a complaint against them, he said.

According to police, the in-laws threatened the young woman of dire consequences if she speaks about the incident. The held accused were booked under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code, police said.
